Cantabria - Spain

Another Iberitas recommended itinerary is going through charming coastal towns in Cantabria, Northern Spain and ending at the internationally renowned Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao. If the impressive exhibits don't make your head spin, then the museum itself certainly will.

    Cantabria Itinerary

Iberitas suggest Santander as the starting point.

This city was once a summer resort of the Spanish royal family is today a busy port and a splendid town. The 12th century Cathedral was rebuilt in 1941, after a devastating fire. Worth visiting too, are the Palace of Magdalena, the Museum of Archaeology and Prehistory, as well as simply soaking up the atmosphere of this attractive regional capital whose University Menendez Pelayo offers famous summer courses and annually hosts students from all over the world. Students, erudite and lovers of good music, every three years attend the prestigious Paloma O'Shea International Piano Competition.** The next Competition will take place in 2011.
